Andraya (Andie) Carse, an eighth grader at the Jared Eliot Middle School, has received the Liberty Bank Youth in Action Award for grade 6-8.  This award recognizes young leaders who have chosen to make a difference in their community through their philanthropy or community service.  Upon hearing the criteria for the award, the faculty at the school voted to nominate Andraya.  She is the founder of Andie's Fudge, a small business she runs with help from her mother and her aunt.  She makes fudge, packages it, markets it nationally through a Facebook page, and distributes it.  Andie was recognized by Liberty Bank for her fundraising efforts on behalf o The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, to which she has donated over $9,000 in the three years since she started her business, and to Kids for Kids, who provided her with the seed money to start her fudge making business.  As the recipient of the Youth in Action Award, she will have the opportunity to direct a $1,000 donation form the Liberty Bank Foundation to a non-profit organization of her choice. Andie was recognized at a reception held on April 24th at the main office of Liberty Bank.
