Morgan Teacher Awarded Fellowship to Study in China

Kathleen Barrett has been selected by the US Department of State to receive a fellowship to study Mandarin in China for seven weeks as part of the 2012 Chinese Intensive Summer Language Institute. Teachers applied from all over the United States and selection demonstrates achievements in the field of education and foreign language instruction. Mrs. Barrett will be based at the Northeast Normal University in Changchun, Jilin Province where she will participate in intensive language courses, cultural excursions, homestays with Chinese families and seminars with Chinese and American colleagues. This professional development opportunity will allow her to improve her Mandarin language skills while gaining many new insights and teaching techniques for assisting with Morgan’s Chinese program.
