Donation to Families Helping Families

On Tuesday, December 23, 2014, Abraham Pierson School had a school-wide pajama day to raise money for Families Helping Families.  Students and staff were encouraged to wear warm and cozy pajamas and bring in a small cash donation.  Families Helping Families was selected because it is a local organization that assists Clinton families.  Everyone enjoyed wearing their pajamas to school.  On Wednesday, January 21, Abraham Pierson School proudly presented Mr. Miner Vincent of Families Helping Families with a check for $470!  He was so pleased that our school teaches community involvement to the children.  Mr. Vincent also volunteers at the Soup Kitchen next door to Pierson School.  Pierson School also donates canned food to the Soup Kitchen and is very involved with the Community Garden that raises fresh produce for the Soup Kitchen.  Pierson School is in a unique situation given that it is located in the heart of the Historical District and is next door to the Soup Kitchen.  A lot of extended learning opportunities are taken advantage of because of the fantastic location!
