On Tuesday May 30th, students  from Señora Luther's Spanish V class came to Joel to read story books to Señora Moran's first grade students.  These story books were very special because they were written in Spanish and illustrated by the high school students  especially to share with the first graders!  Some of the book titles were El Luchadorito ( The Little Wrestler),  Teena la Tortuga (Tina the Turtle), El Zoologico Amable (The Friendly  Zoo) and El Equipo de Futbol (The Football  Team).  Here are some photos of this very fun event.

Invention Convention Inventors present at Board of Education Meeting

posted May 8, 2017, 7:15 AM by Allison Friday   [ updated May 8, 2017, 7:16 AM ]

On May 1st,  five Pierson School inventors were invited to present their inventions to the Board of Education at its monthly meeting. The five inventors were: James Aronson, Paige Monty, Ollie Snow, Niko Clados and Jacob Jones. These five were asked to present because they won the local Invention Convention at Pierson School in early March. In late March, these innovative thinkers competed at Quinnipiac University in the Regional Invention Convention. Ollie Snow, Niko Clados and Jacob Jones won their judging circles at Quinnipiac and were invited to present their inventions at UCONN on Saturday, April 29th. As if that honor wasn’t enough, both Ollie Snow and Niko Clados were chosen (out of  40 inventors in the entire state of Connecticut) to qualify for the National Invention Convention in Washington DC on June 1-3, 2017. We are so very proud of these 4th and 5th graders and wish Ollie and Niko the best of luck at Nationals!
