Sunday, December 16, 2012 - The Town of Clinton will be holding a vigil Sunday, December 16th at 6:00 pm at the Vece Gazebo in front of the Pierson Elementary School for the families and community of Newtown.  A message to the community.

Friday, December 14, 2012 - We are saddened by the tragic events that have occurred in Newtown today. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire community as they come to grips with the loss of life. This afternoon the district administrators and members of each school’s crisis team met to review the district protocols for security and review strategies for addressing tragedy and methods for addressing parents’ and children’s concerns. Each of our schools will be holding faculty meetings on Monday morning before school to review the security and safety protocols that we have in place, reinforce messages for students and remind staff of the supports in place to assist students.

We have also indentified resources for parents as you may have many questions over the weekend as details unfold about this incident. The links are below:

While we believe our security protocols provide appropriate levels of security for our students, all our employees are on a heightened level of awareness and we are working with the Clinton Police Department to provide additional support and visibility throughout next week.

Be assured that your child’s safety is our priority and we work to promote school safety every day.
