Flu & COVID Information
This fall, it is expected that influenza and COVID-19 will be circulating at the same time. The DPH wants to remind parents and guardians that it is especially important that all students and staff receive their flu vaccine. It is anticipated that an updated COVID-19 vaccine will also be available sometime later next month.
The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) and Department of Public Health have communicated that COVID-19 mandates are no longer in effect for schools, and school districts no longer have to report COVID-19 cases to the DPH.
School districts are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines when setting up policies and procedures for the upcoming school year. For the latest guidance from the CDC, open this link CDC Recommendations for Schools. Clinton Public Schools, in conjunction with guidance from Connecticut River Area Health District (CRAHD), recommends that anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 remain out of school/work for 5 days, return to school/work on day 6, and mask through day 10.
