The Clinton Community Committee on Facility Needs (“CCC on Facility Needs”) was formed to review, examine, and possibly restructure the use of Clinton’s school facilities. After several months of study, the CCC on Facility Needs made the recommendation to the Board of Education to formally close Abraham Pierson School and realign the grade levels in the district.
On November 5, 2018, the Clinton Board of Education formally accepted the recommendation to close Abraham Pierson School at the conclusion of the 2018-2019 school year and to realign our schools beginning in the 2019-2020 school year so that Lewin G. Joel Jr. School consists of prekindergarten through grade 4 and Jared Eliot Middle School consists of grades 5 through 8.
Additionally, the Board of Education authorized the Superintendent and Administration to develop and implement a transition plan related to the programming, scheduling, and moving necessary for the closure of Pierson and realignment of grades in the district.
