Message From Teresa Gingrave
Dear Families,
2026 CT School of Distinction: Joel has been nominated by the State of
Connecticut as a school of distinction for the 2025-2026 school year. Joel met high growth in English language arts and mathematics for our high-needs population while maintaining other required criteria. This placed Joel School in the top 10% of schools in CT for this growth area. Join me in congratulating all Joel staff on this wonderful, prestigious accomplishment.
Dress Up Day: Our Dress Up Day was a great success! Students and staff showed so much school spirit, as demonstrated by all the creative costumes, smiles and laughter.
Our Veterans Day Joel Assembly is taking place on Wednesday, November 11th at 2:15. Please complete this form by Monday, November 9th if you and/or a member of your family is a Veteran or on Active Duty and would like to be an honored guest at our Veterans Day Assembly.
Upcoming Seasonal Events: Spirit Days are here! Check the schedule of spirit events.
Have a great weekend!

In Kindergarten, students are finishing up Module 1, Toys and Play. Students explore social-emotional learning and descriptive language as they examine toy characteristics, preferences, and collaborative play, culminating in an informational piece about a classmate’s favorite toy and a class transformation - Toy Museum!
Kindergarten also had their first Town Hall this week. This community gathering focused on identifying feelings and emotions. Students participated in a read-aloud: The Color Monster. A story about emotions, and they learned about the Zones of Regulation and how to describe their emotions.
