Communication Processes and School-based Notifications (updated January 2022)
In January, we adapted our communication processes regarding COVID-19 notifications of positive cases in our school communities as suggested in the updated guidance from CT DPH.
  • Notifications are made to families by the school administration through School Messenger.
  • Notifications are sent when an individual is in school during the infectious timeframe and subsequently tests positive.
    • Joel Elementary School administration will send a message to the parents/guardians of students in the classroom of a positive case.
    • Eliot Middle School administration will send a message to the parents/guardians of students in the grade level impacted.
    • The Morgan School notifications will be sent to all high school parents in the school.
    • If a positive case resulted in a possible exposure to an athletic team, school club, or school activity, a message will be sent to the parents/guardians of students involved in those extracurricular activities.
  • All positive cases reported to the district will be tracked by school in the table below and updated weekly on Fridays.

Test Kits Provided to Schools The State of CT has provided school districts with home test kits for use by students in an effort to help further protect staff, children, and families. The Clinton Public Schools received a limited number of test kits for home use that we will be able to make available in the following manner to support the implementation of the COVID-19 quarantine/isolation and return-to-school protocols:

  • Students who are sent home with symptoms will be provided a kit if needed/requested
  • Students who are home with symptoms and unable to access a test can contact their School Nurse and if ktis are available the Health Office will coordinate a pick-up plan with the parent/guardian
  • Staff who are symptomatic and require a test as part of the return-to-school protocol
  • It is important to note that use of the staff and student testing kits are for CPS students and employees to use at home, and the test cannot be done in a school setting
